Watcher

Words to Treasure

Be on your guard.

1 Corinthians 16:13

The wind-tossed branches scratched against the window, and the bathroom tap went drip, drip, drip in the sink. The room was dark except for a thin ray of light coming from underneath the closet doorway. That’s when the red-eyed monster began to creep across the bedroom floor toward her. Emily was rooted to the spot. She couldn’t move or run. She screamed and screamed.

The bedroom door flew open, and her mother flipped on the overhead light. Emily covered her eyes against the brightness. She still felt the dream with her, and she was still afraid. Her mother brushed her hair from her face.

“You okay?” her mom asked.

Emily nodded, realizing now that it had only been a bad dream.

Her mother looked her in the eyes. “At the sleepover, what kind of movie did you watch?”

“Scary,” Emily answered.

Movies are fun, but you have to be careful about what kind of movies you watch. How do some movies make you feel after you watch them? Do they make you happy, scared, or angry? Just as too much junk food can make you feel sick, junk movies can also make you feel sick inside by giving you bad dreams or making you behave badly. So don’t watch just anything. Before you watch something, check with your mom and dad first. Good movies make you feel good inside.

Did You Know?

People who stay up too late may have more nightmares than people who get to bed early. So going to bed on time just might mean sweet dreams.
