Words to Treasure
Your gifts meet the needs of the Lord’s people. And that’s not all. Your gifts also cause many people to thank God.
2 Corinthians 9:12
The crowd clapped and whistled as Mark did another endo on his bike by riding on his front wheel only. Then he bunny-hopped a bench and finally ended his performance with an amazing tailwhip off a ramp where the only thing connecting him to his bike were his hands on the handlebars. His legs were out in space behind his bike. Just at the right moment, he pulled it together and had his feet back on the pedals ready to hit the ground.
Mark was part of a bike show that was raising money for people who had lost everything in a terrible flood. Everyone was showing off their moves, and the crowd loved it. They were raising a lot of money for needy families.
Did you know your talents or skills aren’t there just to help you get famous or wealthy? You’re also supposed to use them to help others. You can be a gift from God to the world.
Live It!
Talk to your parents, friends, teachers, coaches, and pastor and ask them what they think are your outstanding talents and abilities. Make a list of what you’re good at. Then make another list — a list of some of the ways you could use those talents to help others. That’s one way of sharing God’s love.
