Me, Worry?

Words to Treasure

“I tell you, do not worry. Don’t worry about your life.”

Matthew 6:25

She picked up the dog toy and gave it a little squeak. Suddenly every doggy eye in the dog park was riveted on her.

Tina’s mom whispered in her ear, “Throw it, quick.” Tina did, and the dogs chased it in a frenzy. Her mom watched the dogs. “It won’t be long before you get your new puppy.” Tina was quiet. “Don’t you want your puppy?”

“I want him so bad that it makes me worry.” Tina frowned, “What if something happens to me before then . . . like an accident? What if I never get him?”

Her mom hugged her. “Tina, you’re not going to get in an accident before you get your puppy. Chase that thought right out of your head.”

Worry can make us think some pretty weird stuff. Sometimes stuff that can’t possibly happen. Worry is like carrying around a huge backpack full of rocks. God doesn’t want you to feel crushed by worry. In your mind, give all your worries to God to take care of. He can, and he will, help you with your problems. You’re not alone. Go talk to God about your worries and then talk to someone you trust.

Live It!

When you feel worried or uncertain about the future, read these verses and remember that God is talking to you. “’I know the plans I have for you,’ announces the Lord. ‘I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you. I will give you hope for the years to come’ ” (see Jeremiah 29:11 – 13).
