Words to Treasure
I have chosen you.
Isaiah 41:9
Wayne didn’t know what to say. The guys didn’t want him to snowboard with them. Apparently he wasn’t good enough. He was still learning some things, but he wasn’t the slowest guy on the hill either. He wanted to say a bunch of stuff, but instead he just shrugged. “See you later.” The guys took off without looking back. Now Wayne felt horribly lonely and wasn’t sure who he’d spend the afternoon with.
Suddenly a new kid from school slid to a stop beside him. “Hey, I found a new trail. You want to try it with me?”
Wayne smiled, “Yeah. I’d like that.”
It hurts when people don’t want to be your friend. But, you’re not the only one on the rejection rollercoaster. Everybody has felt rejected at one time or another. It happens. Jesus was rejected and understands every bad feeling that goes with it. His advice is the best you’re going to get. When you feel ignored, dumped, or rejected, you just have to shake it off and move on. You have nothing to prove to anybody. If you have to talk people into being your friend, that doesn’t make them good friends, anyway. Think of it this way: rejection puts you on a road to discover new and better friendships.
Did You Know?
Did you know there are 6.5 billion people living on our planet? That’s an amazing number of new friends you haven’t met.
