Words to Treasure
Do not hate your brother in your heart.
Leviticus 19:17
Simon went into his room and found every one of his car models on the floor, and his Lego castle was in pieces. How many times did he have to tell P.D. and his friends to stay out of his room?! Simon surveyed the damage. It would take him all afternoon to rebuild what they had taken apart. “MOM! P.D. did it again!”
Sometimes living with brothers and sisters can be a complete pain. They seem to exist only to mess up your stuff and drive you crazy. In fact, it’s kind of hard to see what your parents actually like about them in the first place. You’re neat, and they’re messy. When you want them to play a board game, they won’t. And then when you have friends over, they won’t leave you alone. They never do what you want them to do.
Important house memo: brothers and sisters aren’t supposed to be a mini-you. They have their own interests and personalities, and that’s a good thing in the long run. Someday what makes them so different from you may be exactly what you need.
People in Bible Times
When God asked Moses to go speak to Pharaoh, Moses explained that he wasn’t very good at speaking to a crowd. But Moses’ brother Aaron was good at public speaking. So God made the two brothers a team. Both started doing what they did best. It worked.
