Words to Treasure
Be joyful with those who are joyful.
Romans 12:15
Greg looked around the church. Some interesting looking kids were here. The girl with the purple hair, the kid with the strange shirt, and the little kid that never stopped talking. And now a seriously big guy was walking over to him. Was this a good thing or bad thing? Greg looked up — way up — and big giant dude looked down. What was going to happen now?
The big guy pulled out a cloth napkin. Okay, why is he doing that? And then, he made it disappear right before Greg’s startled eyes. Greg stared at his huge, empty hands. Where did it go? Greg looked up, impressed, “How did you do that?” This supersized magic trick guy was all right. Okay, maybe coming to this youth group wasn’t going to be a total nightmare waste of time.
Going to a new church can be like going to a family reunion with strangers. You’re just not sure if this is the right family for you. Before you write somebody off at first glance, stop and get to know them better. That person could be your next lifelong friend.
Did You Know?
Did you know there’s an idea that everybody on earth is connected to everybody else by knowing somebody who knows somebody else who knows somebody else who knows somebody who knows you? It’s called “six degrees of separation.” Confusing? In other words, you may be only five people away from knowing anybody on the planet.
