I would like to thank my editor Tim Rostron; thank copy editor Shaun Oakey; thank Amy Black and Kristin Cochrane—thank my wife and my two sons—and anyone else over these many years who has stood with me.
Once a professor I believed was a friend, doing work on my novels, phoned and said that he knew more about me than I knew about myself. I realized we both had made a terrible mistake about who both of us were. Later after his work on me was complete he said I should quit writing, and his friend, another worthy professor, said he worried that I was no longer revolutionary.
Safe it is to say I did not quit writing all those many years ago, and do believe my work is in the most important ways as revolutionary as any of the writers I know.
