Why it’s proper fun when speed and danger come together.
With the aid of a super-fast racing truck, one Olympic gold medallist
and the science of slipstreaming, I attempt to break the bicycle speed
record. With only pedal power to rely on, could I get to over 100 mph?
To take to the skies using muscle power alone I would need to learn
all about constructing wings and things and the impact of lift, thrust,
weight and drag. And what sort of flying machine would I need?
Learning from lizards that can run on water, understanding the
principles of cavitation and picking the perfect tyres. Will it help us
set the first hydroplaning motorbike world record?
Building the ultimate supersled, learning about the structure of
snow and ice and participating in some very tough training on the
Cresta Run. Have I done enough to be the fastest man on a gravity
powered sled?
