Yogurt

Full-fat active yogurt ticks all the Mediterranean-style healthy-eating boxes. The natural fats in it have little impact on cardiovascular disease—they may even have a beneficial effect—and its live microorganisms feed the good bacteria in your gut. If you make your own yogurt, then even better—you know it’s going to be full of lovely live cultures. We recommend Greek-style yogurt as the straining process increases the protein and nutrient content. But there are good nondairy equivalents available, too.
