If you ask some people why they believe in a God they say “I don’t know. Leave me alone.”
But that is not a really good reason to believe in Gods. It is probably mostly an excuse for not having to think.
Another version of this is to say “It is not what you believe that is important, it is the rituals.” But if what you believe is unimportant, then religions are not really needed, are they? You can make up any rituals you like anyway; squashing tomatoes with your toes, for example.
