GALVANIZED LANTERNS

Sometimes DIY projects are complicated with lots of steps and directions. Sometimes they are simple, and the beauty is in looking at an item in a new way. When I saw the feed scoop used in this project, it immediately looked like a wall lantern to me. With the simple addition of a few pieces and proper installation, it can become a perfect focal point to your living room, or you can install this lantern outdoors to bring light and character to an outdoor seating area.

MATERIALS

  1. Use your drill to drill a small pilot hole in the back panel of your scoop, then use a wood screw to attach your scoop (open-side up) to your wall, preferably in a wall stud.

  2. Add your Mason jar or other heat-safe candle vessel to the scoop. Add your candle and light it.

TIPS & RECOMMENDATIONS

This project does not need to be hung. It would work just as beautifully on a mantel or side table. Also, the Mason jar does not need to be clear. You can now find new Mason jars in blue, green, and even purple.
