PART TWO

Remedies, Recipes, & Applications

Aromatherapy can be used for a wide variety of ailments, and essential oils offer countless emotional benefits.

Some remedies call for a single essential oil, while others recreate popular commercial synergy blends. The “Must Have” recipe label indicates remedies that can be made with any of the nine “must have” essential oils: clove, eucalyptus, geranium, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, peppermint, rosemary, and tea tree. Additional recipe labels include the following:

Aromatic: Benefits come from inhalation.

May Cause Photosensitivity: The essential oils in this recipe may increase sensitivity to the sun, leading to sunburn. Most literature advises users to protect treated areas from the sun for 12 to 24 hours after use.

Safe for Ages 2+, 6+ 12+, or All Ages: This icon indicates the safe age range for users based on topically applied essential oils, and/or the concentration level in the remedy.

Topical: Benefits come from application to the skin.
