I would like to give honor and glory to God. My children for listening to me and helping me decide what cover goes best. Writing to inspire and uplift is what I hope to do with this story. Yes, it is a sad story but beautiful. Thank you Loyd Smith for reminding me beauty and love will never have a waist size. Thank you for making me go to the doctor and getting my mammogram. At 33, diagnosed with breast cancer and you said the most valuable thing to me, “I’m the most valuable person in the room and I have to take care of me first.”
No matter how many times he said I was beautiful, valuable and worth the best life had to offer I turned a deaf ear.I am the woman who didn’t know her value and it will never be his fault. I always thought beauty was described as the perfect body, the pretty smile, hairstyles, makeup and being the strong woman with a great career. Yes, people judge but some of the deepest hate sometimes comes from the woman in the mirror. I hope to inspire women to love themselves and know that beauty and love will never have a waist size. Someone wants to love every inch of us and not to push love away as I’ve done in the past. I self-sabotaged my relationship with Loyd because I didn’t believe I was ever going to be good enough. I learned a lesson love surrounds us but we must be willing to accept it.
I want to also thank the brave caregivers who have dealt with the love of their lives battling cancer. The brave mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, lovers, husbands, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends taking the baton and being in the race. For being the heroes of sacrifice, standing tall, holding tissue, carrying the burdens and being the wind beneath our wings. You are appreciated!
Thank you Alisha and Alexis for being the best caregivers a mother could ever have. You didn’t understand what was going on but for every cup of tea, hug, and kiss you gave made me fight to be better. For getting your siblings dress because I was too weak made want to be strong again. I know that forever and a day I am blessed my beautiful daughters.
My friends for their love and support. My beta readers who gave their input thank you. Thank you Cherrise Walker -Betts for Our Curls, Inc. for enforcing survivorship and being a brave warrior in the fight against cancer. Thank you for choosing me as Board Chair and my excellent team Jennifer, Sarah, James, Velma, Tracy, Terrell, Leah, Shannon, Mia (Thank you for being a beta reader.) I appreciate you all.
For the good men who reminds a woman she is beautiful and accepts her as she is, “Thank you for being the constant reminder love and beauty has no waist size.” You are the wind beneath our wings.
God Bless,
Tamyara Brown.
