Easter every day

But because of his great love for us, God,
who is rich in mercy, made us alive with
Christ even when we were dead in transgressions
it is by grace you have been saved.

EPHESIANS 2:4–5

We have all heard the Easter story, how Jesus laid his life down for us on Good Friday and rose on Easter Sunday. But do we really take time to think about it? For me, Easter is the day we dress up especially nice. We go to church. We see people we haven’t seen. We usually have a big lunch afterwards. And sometimes we even have an Easter egg hunt. I usually think about what I am going to wear and who I will see, and I end up missing the whole point. And the point that I am missing is Jesus Christ. Without Jesus, we would not be celebrating. Without His humanity, His life, His death, there would be no such thing as Easter. Without Him there would be no opportunity to be forgiven. Without Him there would be no hope of Heaven. Without Him there would be no such thing as a Christian. We celebrate Easter because Jesus’ resurrection gives us power to live, to change, to love, to be forgiven, to be hopeful, and to be fulfilled. Wow! When I think about it, I realize that Easter is not something to be celebrated once a year. I want to remember who and what this day stands for every day of my life!

You died for me! What an amazing gift!
I never want to take it for granted.
