roller coasters, funnel
cakes … and God

They ate and drank with great joy
in the presence of the
LORD that day.

1 CHRONICLES 29:22

So many days I feel like I’m putting on a show, just going through the motions. So I’m thankful for days when I can really just enjoy life and be myself—like the day I went to the fair with my friend. It was a school day, so I wasn’t sure if my mom would let me go. And my friend’s family was staying out late, so they suggested that I ask to spend the night at their house. So I’m thinking that it is a school night and there’s NO WAY my parents will let me spend the night at a friend’s house. I really didn’t want to call and ask, but I did and THEY SAID YES!! The fair was so much fun. We screamed on pretty much every ride. After that we came up with cheesy, funny pickup lines with the good-looking guy serving funnel cake. It was pretty late by then, so we thought everything anyone said was funny. I think that laughing and enjoying friends is part of what life is really about. In life, I so often feel like I’m acting on a stage. It is days like this one that remind me what matters in life is loving God and loving other people in a real and sincere way.

Father, I want to thank You for those days
when everything just seems to go right,
when I’m happy and relaxed and I can just enjoy
all You have given me. Amen.
