HEBREWS 11:1
What does it mean to have faith in something that we cannot see? I think that if we look closely enough, we will see bits and pieces of Him who we have faith in and hope for in the world around us. I get to know God better when I see my little sister singing “Jesus Loves Me,” when I sit quietly and watch the sun slowly and brilliantly sink beyond the horizon, and when I remember that all the good things in my life are gifts from above. In order to see these little glimpses of God around us, we have to look with different eyes. Even with eyes of faith, sometimes we can’t figure out how God is communicating with us. That is when we simply have to believe what we know to be true about our God. That is when we look at the amazing way He has orchestrated the world in the past and the incredible things He has planned for the future and say we trust Him, even though we do not see. I think it has to work like this because faith is not something to see and view from a distance; it is something to be experienced and lived out, every day, in our attitudes and our actions. And so, until we do see fully, until we are with Him face to face, we must keep looking for and believing in the glimpses of eternity that we get each day.
