LUKE 2:11–12
Whenever I think of Christmas, my mind automatically jumps straight to presents, shopping, and the things that I want to get Who am I going to buy gifts for and what will they want? Will I have enough money? Okay, so yeah, Christmas may be about giving and not just getting, but THAT’S STILL MISSING THE POINT. Something else happened on that day, something way bigger than Christmas trees and wrapping presents. On that day, Jesus came down from heaven, to be fully God and yet fully man. Jesus was born to take away our sins. Jesus, our Savior, was wrapped in cloth (and we’re not talking about silk here) and laid in a manger. Donkeys and cows ate out of mangers. They’re filthy! But He loved us so much that He would do all of that for us. Just think about what Jesus had to go through later in His life. He was ridiculed and beaten and then put on the cross, and all of that was for us! Christmas day is so much more than just thinking of ourselves and our presents. It’s about Jesus, His sacrifice, and the day He came down. He made us white as snow (maybe that’s why it snows in December) and loves us so much! So please remember Jesus when you’re opening your presents this year.

Jesus, I don’t want to ever forget what You
went through for me. It’s easy to get caught up in
all the earthly Christmas stuff, but the only part of
Christmas I really want to celebrate is the gift of You!
