2 TIMOTHY 1:5
Today’s younger generation is often known for disobedience and disrespect towards their elders. Many teenagers see their elders as boring and not understanding, but we have to remember that they were our age once and have gone through the same things we are, made the same mistakes, and learned from them. I’ve been fortunate to grow up in a solid Christian family and know both sets of my grandparents and two sets of great-grandparents. A favorite time is trail riding with my grandfather. He’s a man after God’s heart. I learn from him when we are riding. It’s like having a living encyclopedia riding alongside you. It would be ridiculous for me to not listen to my elders when they are so wise. We should be proud to spend time with them and learn from them. In 2 Timothy 1:5, Paul is reminding Timothy of the lessons he learned from his godly grandmother and mother before he sets out to spread God’s Word. Listening to those who have more experience in life is important, so instead of getting caught up in today’s stereotype of teenager’s, open your ears a little and learn something.

Today, guide me to someone older who can teach me
a good lesson about You, Father. I want to learn to listen
to those who have more wisdom than I do.
