the romance
you never expected

Where has your lover gone,
most beautiful of women?

SONG OF SOLOMON 6:1

A love life? Sure, we all like to believe we have one, whether or not we really do. I always wanted a guy to write me a love song or letter. How romantic … to hear how you are adored, how beautiful you are, how the sun rises and sets in your eyes, and … well, you get the picture. When I’m reading the Bible, I normally skip over Song of Solomon. Personally, reading a book meant for married people never really did appeal to me. I never understood the whole “leaping gazelle” thing. So when I went to a Bible study and the leader announced we were studying that particular book, I glanced up to see if I was really in the youth devotional group or if I had accidentally found myself in the newly married couple’s class. As we started the study, I began to discover what a gift the Song of Solomon is to us hopeless romantics. Christ is madly, head-over-heels obsessed with you—despite all your faults, mood swings, shortcomings, and not-so-great days. He wants to offer it to you, and, unlike a boy, Hell never break your heart. You can trust Him enough to love Him back completely. Fall in love over and over again with His beauty and His grace, and rejoice in your eternal bridegroom.
