MARK 10:43–45
Have you ever been in a group where one person automatically rises to the top as the leader? I am not someone that automatically does that, even though I do enjoy leadership and the responsibility of it. What I’ve learned is that leadership isn’t always about taking charge and telling people what to do. The best leaders I have seen, and the kind I want to be, are the ones who are servants to those around them. Service is a requirement of leadership. Being a leader is not only about control, but also about listening, helping, encouraging, and, of course, serving others. A good leader is willing to step back and give someone else the reins and the control. But you cannot become a great leader without first looking to Jesus. The best leader is one who follows the greatest leader of all, Jesus Christ.

I want to learn to lead by serving, but it’s not easy, Lord.
Today, please show me ways I can do this
so that I can be more like You. Amen.
