PSALM 119:11 (KJV)
What does it mean to hide God’s word in your heart? When you memorize a verse, it is literally locked into your memory. One time I met an elderly lady that had had a stroke. Her husband said that right after the stroke, the only thing she could remember was the Lord’s Prayer. Isn’t that amazing! When we hide God’s Word in our hearts, we can use it to share the gospel to others better, have a closer relationship with the Lord, and get many other blessings. How do we memorize scripture? I used to try to memorize a verse and would say it over and over, but then twenty minutes later it would be gone. I have found that meditating on the verse is what locks it into place. What is meditating? Meditating is thinking about what the words mean individually. I memorize and meditate by saying the first word, explaining what it means, then saying that word and the next one, defining the second, and so on. It really works! Also, for some people, writing the verse down helps. When you figure out a way that works for you, you will be able to store lots of God’s words inside you. And having God’s word in your heart will help you to know what is right and what is wrong.

I want to know Your Word inside out,
Lord, so I will always have it with me,
and it will be a part of me.
