2 CORINTHIANS 1:3–4
God will comfort you in your sadness. It’s hard to let go of someone you love when they die. About two years ago, my aunt, who was like my second mom, passed away. Her death was unexpected. A blood clot traveled from her leg to her heart, killing her instantly. My aunt was very close to my family; she always lived near us so she was at our home much of the time. When we would go out to eat, we would call and invite her to join us, and she usually would. We would ask her where she wanted to go because she meant so much to us, and we wanted to make her happy. So when she did leave us, it was hard to handle. I turned to God for help, and He did help me through the whole grief thing; He never left me alone. I don’t know what I would have done without Him. He reminded me that even though she left us she was in a better and a happier place where she would not hurt anymore, but we could still feel her presence. I miss her and I still stay up at night sometimes thinking about her, recalling great moments we shared together. When I miss her, I try to remember that she’s with God now. I look forward to seeing her again because I know the Lord, and I know I will go to heaven.

Father, when someone I love dies,
1 want to be sure that we will see each
other again. That way I won’t be quite as sad.
