scared to death

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he
will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

DEUTERONOMY 31:8

As I walked into the audition for Cinderella, I was absolutely terrified. I had practiced all weekend and knew everything perfectly, but I was still scared to death. As a result, the audition did not go as well as I had hoped. Being a sophomore at the time, I was at a disadvantage because seniors were also trying out for the part of Cinderella. But I thought I would fit the role so perfectly because I feel like a Cinderella at heart. I am a hopeless romantic who dreams of being swept off my feet by a charming prince. I wanted to portray that feeling on stage, and I knew I could do it. All I had to do was convince everyone else that I could. The audition process was long and drawn out. Another girl was called in numerous times to read for the part that I wanted. I was becoming more and more discouraged. I did not get the part. I was so upset that day that I ran home and cried because I wanted that part so badly. I cried to my heavenly Father, asking Him why I didn’t get the part. I’ve learned something since then. Even if things don’t turn out the way I want them, God still has a plan, and He sticks with me, even when I don’t feel like trusting Him.

Lord, help me to know that when I don’t get what I want,
You have a very good reason for it.
