mail hugs

A cheerful heart is good medicine.

PROVERBS 17:22

Five years ago my friend Kaitlyn moved away, so I made her a card to let her know I missed her. I was thrilled when she wrote me back, and at the time I had no idea we would grow into pen pals and would still be writing today. Kaitlyn’s sunny letters encourage me so much; they are like a snug hug. She is always upbeat and enthusiastic about her basketball team, her family, her trips, and her life! Often she decorates her notes with stickers or bright markers. Sometimes she sends photos, Bible verses, or posters she’s drawn of my name. She makes me feel loved and cared for. She’s shown me a whole lot about Jesus’ love by the way she considers my interests and shares in my joys and my daily life. So many activities and things in life keep changing, but not our pen-pal notes. Even though we only get to see each other a couple of times a year, we still stay close. When I go to the mailbox, drained after a long day of school, Kaitlyn’s faithfulness to write gives me an instant internal high-five. Kaitlyn lets God use her to bless me. I hope God will use me to encourage Kaitlyn and all my family and friends by being cheerful, really caring, and faithful over time.

Jesus, help me to be joyful and caring
all the time so that even the small things
I do will show Your love to others.
