ACTS 16:9
There are always people struggling through difficult times. Consider traumatic and devastating events like the Asian Tsunami in 2004, 9/11 in New York; and the 2005 hurricane in New Orleans where victims were forced to evacuate and often separated from friends or family members. We watch the news and hear the stories and ask, “What can we do? Are we too young? Can we really make a difference?” We can do some thing … we can pray. People need to know there is always power available. Christians have power in prayer. We also have power in giving. I know we don’t have much, but in times of crisis every little bit helps. Give toward helping others through your church. When you walk in or out of some stores, there may be a box from reputable organizations like the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army. Give up a movie or a value meal one week and drop a dollar in. We also have power through volunteering. For the past few summers I have been able to volunteer to help rebuild poor or elderly people’s houses destroyed in hurricanes. Let’s take time out and not be SELFISH but be SELFLESS, and you will feel like you have made a difference in someone’s life. The ways that you help don’t have to be big. Just do the most you can whenever you can.

Lord, help me to give of myself to help others.
Today, guide me to give up just a little something so that
I can give it to someone else who needs it much more.
