1 PETER 5:7
Help! Where did I put that rose? I know I stuck a safety pin on one of these roses before the play started. I’ve got to find it. Aaaggghhh! These frantic thoughts were racing through my head as I tried not to rip apart the rose bush up on stage. Earlier, I had put a safety pin on the back of a rose and placed it in a perfectly accessible spot on the rose bush so it was ready to pin onto my “sweetheart.” My sweaty, clammy hands were shaking uncontrollably by the time I realized that I couldn’t spend all of Act II searching for one specific rose. I started adlibbing as fast as my paralyzed brain would go, saying something like, “But it has to be the perfect rose, darling …” After the play, I frantically questioned my sister about the glitch, and she didn’t even know that something had gone wrong! This little experience made me think about the problems that we come up against in real life. 1 Peter 5:7 tells us to “cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” I realized that however big or small, significant or insignificant we think our problems are, God cares. So whether it’s a misplaced rose in a play or a real-life hiccup, our God does not leave us. He wants to take care of us, and he wants us to trust Him. Because when we do, what we think is a huge disaster might not be after all.
