jump or die!

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some
understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting
anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

2 PETER 3:9

Smoke billowed from his daughter’s second-story window. The once-beautiful white house was now swallowed up in flames. “Honey, you just have to trust me. I am here! Now, please, jump!” Her father frantically yelled. “Daddy, I can’t see you. I can’t let go!” The strangest images began to flash through his mind. She loved that room so much. Her perfectly patterned window seat, trimmed in white lace, was now surely blackened from the soot. “Please, have faith,” he whispered as a sob caught in his throat. He was starting to realize that his precious daughter had to make a life-changing decision. Trust her dad, or die. This is a decision that we all must face at one point in our lives. We are all just like that daughter, scared because of the wrong things we have done. We hear our heavenly Father, God, whisper our name. He is saying, “Jump my child, and I will rescue you!” However, we fire back our excuses: “I can’t see you” and “You can’t handle this, God!” God is faithful and He continues to plead with us. God is above any issue we struggle with and He wants to rescue us. The father’s daughter finally trusted him, and he saved her from certain death. Christ has already paid our debt and is waiting for us to trust Him and jump into His waiting arms.

God, You are my loving, protecting Father. I want to trust
You enough to jump into whatever You call me to do.
