LUKE 18:17
I have always been afraid of growing up. When I was little, I didn’t play marriage and house with everyone else because I loved being exactly the age I was. It got confusing when I got older; I wasn’t so sure of myself anymore. I wanted to grow up, have a career, get married … but I still wanted to be able to climb trees, run, and play. I was worried because I knew I could not stop getting older. I started praying to God and talking to my mom. I realized that getting older didn’t mean I had to leave my childhood self behind completely. I could become more mature and still be a kid in my heart. There is nothing wrong with an adult who climbs trees and loves to laugh. (Actually, life would be really boring if adults didn’t act like kids once in a while.) God has made me sure of myself again by showing me that growing up doesn’t have to be a scary thing.

God, I never want to lose my childlike
desire for and awe of You. No matter how old I get,
I want to receive You like a little child receives her Father.
