He’s always there

The LORD will keep you from all harm
he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch
over you’re coming and going both now and forevermore.

PSALM 121:7–8

A little over a year ago, I was really struggling with knowing God was always with me, watching over and protecting me. I felt spiritually alone, and I prayed every night for God to show Himself to me in some way, as did my mom. One night three of my friends and I were traveling around to several graduation receptions in my friend’s compact car when we got lost looking for a house. We were enjoying ourselves, just having fun. Suddenly we went through an intersection and hit some loose gravel, and the car went into a ditch. My friend, who was driving, lost control and overcorrected, causing the car to roll once and land right side up. Ten feet more and we would have hit a light pole, or if we had gone to the other side of the ditch, we would have gone through a barbwire fence. We scrambled out of the vehicle and called for help. We were rushed by ambulance to the hospital; one girl had a concussion, but the rest of us were fine. We went to see the car the next day and saw that the whole frame had shifted on the roof and all of the windows on my side of the vehicle had been smashed out, totaling $10,000 in damage. We weren’t protected because of seatbelts. God’s hand was holding that car the entire time. That potentially deadly accident was exactly what I needed to see that God would always be present.

Father, thank You for all the times
You have protected me and the people I love
from harm. I am so grateful that You watch over us.
