taking a shower
in the rain

Then they cried out to the LORD
in their trouble, and he brought
them out of their distress. He stilled the
storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were
hushed.Let them give thanks to the LORD for
his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.

PSALM 107:29, 31

While on a summer mission trip, we traveled by bus and canoe to the rain forest to serve a native tribe. Our team held a worship service, played with adorable children, and helped the tribe to build a path to their school. Working in one-hundred-degree weather, we were hot, sweaty, and started calling dibs on the shower! On our canoe ride back there was a storm that even tipped the boat ahead of us over. We got soaked by the rain, but it was refreshing and God cooled us off! The rain poured even harder and the wind was blowing more violently. Our boat started to take on water, even as we sang worship songs and prayed that God would protect us, and we tried not to be too scared. Other canoes pulled up beside us and some of us climbed into them. We ended up making it out of the storm and back to shore. God cooled us off when we were hot and showed me that even in the midst of things that we have no control over, when we’re afraid, He is right there with us to keep us safe.

When I am hot, You cool me off. When I am afraid,
You make me feel safe. You are everything I need!!
