PSALM 18:30
Recently I went through a time when I was very discouraged and felt like I had very few friends. I had just been through a tough breakup, and through that I lost my best friend. I didn’t really know who I was or how to begin to discover myself. But I did know that I had to turn to God, and the things He taught me at the beginning of that time were very humbling. At one of my lowest points I read Psalm 18:30 in a devotional, and it said to replace God’s name with Love, for He is Love. When you do that, the verse reads, “As for Love, His way is perfect”! I cannot begin to tell you how that encouraged me. It gave me hope that in the future there is something that God has planned for me that is perfect. I tried so long to do it my way, but my way is nowhere near perfect. This verse made me redirect my thinking, and I began to look forward to God’s perfect way.

Father, help me to realize
that what I want is not always what
I need. Even when I can’t see the reason
for what You’re doing, I want to trust that
Your way is the best way … the perfect way.
