pillows of love

His never-failing love protects me
like the walls of a fort!

PSALM 31:21 (TLB)

I’m fifteen and my only sister is nineteen. We’re best buddies. Most everything in life is much more fun when we’re together. We have many shared friends and interests, and we especially love to go on trips, jog, and play cards together. Last week she moved to college. We had a fast, fun, but bittersweet final week together that included waxing her jeep, physicals, shots, and getting our ears pierced. Even though the week’s activities were fun, a cloud of sadness and dread followed me. Friday we loaded her Jeep and my parent’s car … my sister and I were quiet during the drive to her school. We set up her dorm room, and it looked odd to see her stuff in a strange room. After telling her good-bye, my parents and I had a droopy drive home. We came with four people and left with three. That evening our house felt abnormally empty because someone was missing. A verse that God has used to help me in this experience is Psalm 31:21 “His never-failing love protects me like the walls of a fort.” The verse makes me think of myself and my cares snuggled between pillows of His love, even when I feel alone without my sister around. I know I still have to endure this adjustment, but I’m glad God’s helping me through.
