Every day people wake up and fight with themselves over whether or not they will keep their commitments and action plans. The victory always goes to the ones who have a “no matter what” attitude and take their 100% commitment seriously.
I admit that starting out can be a bit shaky sometimes—you might need an extra push at first—but once you get moving, it gets much easier. Depending on what you have committed to, instead of daily (like going to the gym, for instance), you may opt for five times a week or every other day (like having a salad for lunch).
Some commitments require daily practice. Working on your to-do-list is one of them, meditation or prayer is another, repeating your affirmations throughout the day is a given. Today, decide to give 100% to your commitments.

There are some commitments that are entirely useless unless you give them 100%. Think about giving less than your all when it comes to quitting smoking, or texting while skiing, or meditating, or motorcycle racing. It just can’t work, it would be impossible to succeed.
More often than we realize, we throw obstacles into our own paths that trip us up, delay our growth, and make things more difficult—impossible even. You drive to work with smokers, you can’t walk away from your phone for 10 minutes, you allow the dog to distract you when you’re meditating, or you don’t maintain your engine or tires properly before you hit the speedway. They are all recipes for disaster.
And then there are roadblocks that we allow other people to place in front of us. A neighbor asks you to help set up a new printer right in the middle of your family time, or your teenager starts an argument just as you’re heading to work, or a friend invites you over for lasagna just as you’ve started your new diet. You have to learn to say no (maybe another time?) because anything else strips your commitment and spells failure.
No one can achieve your goals and dreams for you, and no one can commit to their success, other than you. You are the one who determines your destiny.
I am practicing the “no exceptions” rule in order to keep my commitments and achieve all my goals.
Successful people don’t accept exceptions. Once they make a commitment to something, it’s non-negotiable. If you make the 100% commitment to exercise every day, you will do it no matter what—even if you have an early morning appointment, or it’s raining, or you just don’t feel like doing it. When you’re committed to meditate every day for 30 minutes, work on your to-do-list, make 10 new sales calls, practice the piano five days a week, or whatever it may be—only 100% commitment will do.
One final thing: Always honor your agreements and deliver on your word. Self-confidence, integrity, and motivation are the rewards for doing so, all of which have a wonderful impact on your reputation, and that’s rewarding, too.
I am committed to excellence in everything I do, which is positively impacting every aspect of my life, my career, my results, and my reputation.
