Love Grew On Us

Love grew on us

as common grass

fell on us

as common rain,

Love laid on us

a common kiss

as we held hands,

then kissed again.

Love ran in us

as windblown fire,

love swarmed in us

and stung as bees,

Love flowed in us

as water pure,

though speechless now,

we walked the seas.

Love drew us on

as moons are drawn,

lured us on

as night drew nigh,

Love pressed us on

for we would drown

in one another’s

fiery sigh.

Love wounds in us

as love doth well,

love wraps us in

her mending wings,

Love seals in us

her common death,

from which the lifting

phoenix sings.

just a word-
