Beijing

We had been planning to go to Beijing for so long, and there was our chance! If I am not mistaken, we did it over a weekend, which meant after work on Sunday, we rushed to the train station to catch the last train out of the city to Beijing, and then we were off! We were making the most of such little time we had.

We played cards on the train ride, drank some whiskey, and had crisps, our death! But it was a hell of a lot of fun; we hardly felt the three and a half hours, playing cards and chatting.

I hated Beijing for its hustle and bustle, but this trip was different! After a long ride, we got to the train station, and now we had to find a way to get to the guest house where we had a reservation. Being money conscious and not taking a private cab this time, we started walking away from the train station, trying to catch a taxi a couple of blocks down the road.

So, this guy on his petrol operated tricycle scooter came up to us, asking if we wanted a lift; we thought why not… This guy sang for us! He was hilarious! He sang songs from his heart, and we seemed like best friends, knowing each other for decades!

We got to this alley that looked a little like something out of a Harry Potter movie and eventually found our guesthouse. It was a Chinese style guest house with one room and a bathroom, but it was perfect for what we wanted! I loved it!

We went walking outside, trying to find a way to get to the vegan restaurant. In another alley after the subway ride, this alley was almost like something I would expect to find in Europe, it has a walking shopping road in the open air.

Lunch the next day was at another Vegan restaurant where we had Avocado soup for the first time! Can you imagine! It was delicious! The vegan food we had at the restaurant was nearly the only thing we kept craving for the next day.

We went to BaDaLing. It was the real deal when it comes to The Great Wall of China. There were hundreds of people! Taking a photo of you was like a “finding Nemo” meme.
