In the Meantime

Since the breakup, I made an assumption, I assumed you’d be quiet about the split and be silent about the reasoning, but on the contrary, you weren’t. You were pretty open about it to everyone, and they were just sworn to secrecy, which caused everyone around us to look at me with disgust and judgment. My integrity was at question for something that I had no part or role to play. The gossip started whistling through the winds, and eventually I was confronted with the most incredible and imaginative stories. Everyone was hearing what I was not allowed to know.

My name was being stoned, walked over, and dragged through the mud, all based on lies and disguises to justify the truth nobody knows.

I know you think you got away with the perfect crime at this stage. Still, the truth is, if you can do all of that to me, the person that will give you the socks off his feet, his last piece of bread, spend his last dollar on a flower for you just to see your smile, you will do it to the next person and the next until there are no more victims for your crimes.
