Looking after extremely sick patients is a privilege. While this isn’t strictly speaking a medical romance, Lucien and Jay are both front-line doctors, and I have drawn on my own experiences as a hospital doctor in creating aspects of their story. I wrote this book during the Covid pandemic, a period of history that has been an extraordinary challenge for all hospital staff. Thus, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my medical colleagues for all their hard work and support during this difficult time.
