CHOICE
“The strongest principle of growth lies in human choice.”
—author Mary Anne Evans, a.k.a. George Eliot, Daniel Deronda (1876), book VI, chapter XLII
matters of choice
Can machines ever gain the power of free will? For that matter, do humans really have that power in the first place, or is free will merely an illusion? However we come to make our decisions and perform specific actions, those choices have consequences not only in the world around us, but also within ourselves. Caught in a crossfire of competing causal forces, who will manage to make the choices that stay true to their values and ideals, and who will switch from white hat to black?
