When Linda saw the head (without a body) on the pavement, she knew. But her partner, Zack, was new and might panic.
To Zack, the accident was more gruesome than anything he’d seen in paramedic training. A van and two cars had collided. Body parts littered the pavement; the back of the van was a sea of blood.
As he jumped from the ambulance, Zack nearly stepped on a severed hand. He stumbled, but Linda caught him.
“Hang on buddy. This isn’t too serious. Look—”
