Don’t Talk Politics in Montana Jones’ Barber Shop

image

Walking into the barber shop, Cody, Wyoming police detective Hank Jenkins had to step over a body partially draped in white. The victim wasn’t covered due to anyone’s sense of decorum; he’d been shot in the middle of a shave, and he still wore a sheet around his neck.

“Okay, who saw anything?” Jenkins said to the half dozen men in the room.

“Reckon he couldn’t read, Hank,” drawled one of the barbers, “so Montana, he shot him.”

Jenkins glanced at the sign above the mirror: “No talking politics.”

“Fair ‘nuff,” Jenkins said. “Was he....?”

“Yup,” Montana said. “A Democrat.”
