The annual Ukulele Picnic in Honolulu honors Hawaii’s favorite instrument. It includes a fund-raising concert, an international ukulele contest, a hula show, and the picnic itself. The best professionals as well as amateurs in the world gather each year to show off their talents in a show that could only take place in Hawaii.
Players from Hawaii, Japan, and elsewhere make music along Oahu’s south shore during the picnic from the morning until sunset. The free festival at Kakaako Waterfront Park features a variety of booths containing Hawaiian crafts and food and offering activities for kids.
Celebrating the gift of the ukulele with the world, this festival is a perfect place to kick back and enjoy a good meal as well as the aloha spirit.
