Sweet and spicy and everything nice is what this fruity salsa is all about. The small amount of fresh ginger won’t overpower the salsa, but it will give it a hint of spice, which I absolutely love.
2 cups finely chopped, peeled apples
2 cups chopped strawberries
1 teaspoon finely grated orange peel
¼ cup fresh orange juice
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon chopped, peeled fresh ginger
¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Tortilla or pita chips, for serving
Toss together the apples and strawberries with the orange peel and juice, brown sugar, ginger, and cinnamon in a serving bowl. Refrigerate the salsa for at least 30 minutes before serving it. Serve with tortilla or pita chips.
MAKES 6 TO 8 SERVINGS.
