Here’s a very easy way to have homemade bread for dinner tonight. Don’t worry if you’re new to baking. Anyone who can stir can make this a success!

Prep: 15 min. + rising Bake: 40 min. Makes: 1 loaf (12 slices)
1 tsp. active dry yeast
11/2 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
23/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. olive oil
11/2 tsp. salt
1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in the remaining ingredients to form a wet dough; transfer the dough to a greased 21/2-qt. baking dish. Cover; let stand in a warm place for 1 hour.
2. Stir down the dough. Cover; let stand for 1 hour.
3. Bake at 425° for 20 minutes. Reduce oven setting to 350° and bake until top is golden brown and a thermometer reads 210°, about 20 minutes longer.
4. Remove bread from the baking dish to a wire rack to cool. Serve bread warm.
