Our Amazing God

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.

COLOSSIANS 1:15-16

GOD TRULY IS THE MASTER of the universe. To understand what that means is difficult for our human minds and hearts. But God is our creator, the creator of all the universe, the creator of heaven, the creator of all of us. He is worthy of our praise and worship!

Here’s an interesting thing to think about. What kind of God is able to say the words and then the universe forms—but also cares about us individually? A pretty amazing God. When we think of God, we can think of him like a friend, not like some distant, harsh, judgmental god who is never happy with us. Because we mess up and sin and do things he doesn’t want us to, it’s easy to start believing that he can’t possibly love us anymore. But he does. He’s a very personal God. He knows you and all your fears and flaws and gifts. He’s the almighty God of the universe, the maker of heaven and earth, but he also says that you and I are his friends.

There’s no doubt about it: God is almighty. He has always been here and always will be. He has all the power and authority. But he’s also our friend and supporter. So praise him! Worship him! Be grateful every day to him!
