Praise Him!
Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
PSALM 150
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO PRAISE GOD? It means to jump up and down, to celebrate, to give thanks. It means to shout for joy that God is ours and we are his. It means to honor what an amazing God he is—God who created the earth and the stars, the plants and animals, and us!
So often we’re worried about what’s happening in our lives that we forget to look up into the heavens and remember that God is our mighty God who sees and knows everything. Instead of focusing on our problems and discomforts, we can raise our hands to him and say, “Thank you!” and “Hallelujah!” Praising God and remembering to be thankful to him is one of the best solutions to feeling weary and sorry for ourselves. Because of God, we have reasons to celebrate every single day.
God deserves our ongoing thanks for all he does for us. He’s given us life and love and hope for the future. And he’s amazingly talented! He created a world that’s a living masterpiece. We will never run out of things to thank him for! So let’s sing his praises!
DO
Play a song you like that praises God. Sing along, raise your hands, dance, close your eyes. Spend the time alone praising and thanking God.
PRAY
Dear God,
Thank you! I love you! You are amazing! Sometimes I forget in everyday life just how special you are and how much you’ve done for me. Let me never forget. Let me never stop being grateful. Amen.
