Work for It

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

MATTHEW 6:33

WHAT DO YOU WORK FOR? Do you want to be a good dancer or a great mathematician or a rancher or a woodworker? Do you work hard to learn a musical instrument? Do you want to be the fastest in the 100-yard dash or the player who gets the most rebounds?

What do you work for? Do you work to make smart decisions and help others? Do you make an effort to read the Bible and understand it and how it applies to your life? Do you make a point to talk to God every day and learn more about him?

We work for the things in life that we really want. We may say we want to have the best serve on the team, but if we don’t work toward it, we’re saying empty words. We have to back up our words with actions. We can have lots of goals in life, but the most important one is to work every day to grow closer to God in some way.

DO

Take a walk outside and look around at everything God made. Make a point to thank him for each thing. Soak in the wonder of what he’s created. Be still for a while in his creation.

PRAY

Dear God,

Thank you for wanting to be my friend. Thank you for being in every part of my life. Please help me remember to stay focused on you in my words and actions. Amen.
