Winter Wonder
The stormy wind comes from its chamber, and the driving winds bring the cold. God’s breath sends the ice, freezing wide expanses of water.
JOB 37:9-10
WHAT’S WINTER LIKE where you live? Is it piles of snow and dripping icicles? Or is it just a few degrees cooler than normal on the beach?
Winter is different depending on where you live, but it’s the start of a new season, a time when things in nature kind of go to sleep and rest for a while. The trees might be bare, and the grass may be brown. Some animals go into hibernation, and some go south where it’s warmer. Winter is a quieter time where we often want to wrap up in a blanket and drink hot cocoa.
We know God created the world and all the seasons in it. When the seasons change, we can appreciate the changes and might even feel a little sad for the season we’re leaving behind.
We also get to look forward to all our favorite things about the new season. Maybe it’s sledding or chilly walks on the beach. Or maybe it’s the heavy clouds and wet air that mean snow is coming. Like every season, winter brings a new opportunity to appreciate the incredible way God makes everything work together.

PRAY
Dear God,
Thank you for winter. Thank you for the beauty of changing seasons and the differences between them. Please remind me to look around and see what’s happening as the seasons change. Amen.
