Shout It Out
Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
PSALM 37:4
WHAT GIVES YOU JOY? What makes you want to shout with happiness? Being on Christmas vacation? Going camping? Playing with a new toy or game? Having a friend over?
There’s a lot for us to be happy about. Yet we can fall into taking those good things in life for granted, meaning we kind of stop noticing them. God wants us to take notice. He wants us to be aware of all the great things happening in our lives. Most of all, he wants us to feel a sense of deep joy in our relationship with him. He wants to be the ultimate source of joy for us. He wants us to jump for joy in his name.
Every day is a chance to be joyful and to praise God. Instead of overlooking the wonderful parts of life and the good things that are happening, we can specifically look for those things. We can notice everyday goodness. Shout it out—God is good!
DO
Shout it out! God is so good! Jump around. Jump for joy. Dance. Raise your hands. Do a jumping jack or 10. Shake your body. Wiggle from head to toe. God gave you a body to use—so use it to joyfully praise him.
PRAY
Dear God,
Thank you for making every day full of joyful things. Please help me remember that you are the source of goodness and love in my life. I praise you. Amen.
