Have Faith!

Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.”

MARK 11:22-24

OUR FAITH MATTERS TO GOD—A LOT. After all, how can we expect to live with him for eternity if we don’t have faith in him? To have faith means to believe and to put our trust in something. As Christians, we have faith in God. We believe what Jesus said about having faith and the power of faith, like in this Scripture from Mark. Our faith can move mountains!

God gave us life, and he provides for our daily needs. He stays with us always, never abandoning us or turning his back on us. He’s a good, caring God who has a plan for our lives. And he asks in return that we put our faith in him. What that simply means is we put our trust in him, believe his plan for us, follow his commandments, and tell others about him. Having faith means believing in God with your whole heart and following him no matter what. And that’s a win-win—for God and for us.

What’s your favorite worship song or Christian music artist? Listen to one of your favorites. As you do, lie on the floor on your back with your eyes closed. As you listen, ask yourself what it is about that song that makes you feel close to God. What would your life be like if you didn’t have faith in him? How can you remember to show your faith every day?

Dear God,

Thank you for giving me the chance to get to know more about you in the Bible. Thank you for always being there, close to me, and for inviting me to believe in you with my whole heart. Remind me that my faith in you has power because you are the God of the universe. Amen.
