Spread It Around

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.

PROVERBS 17:22

WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH? Even when you’re feeling angry or sad, there are usually things that’ll make you laugh. Like silly jokes:

What did one piece of wood say to the other? (“I’m bored.”)

Did you hear about the angry pancake? (He just flipped!)

God gave us laughter and he gave us humor. The ability to find the funny things in life is important because there will be lots of times when it’s easier to find the sad, bad, and uncomfortable things. But being able to laugh and finding people who make us laugh are two of the best things about being human. Humor helps us get through all kinds of situations, and when we laugh and enjoy life, it makes God happy.

When we find the funny things in everyday life, we bring joy to others. Laughter is contagious; it spreads faster than a cold. So why not share it with others? Remember not to take yourself too seriously. Look for the light side of things. Be happy, tell a joke, laugh with friends. Doing so is a great way to enjoy this life God has given us.

PRAY

Dear God,

Why are leopards so bad at playing hide-and-seek? Because they’re always spotted! Thank you for putting humor in my heart. Thank you for giving me so much to laugh about and have fun with in life. Remind me to look for ways to bring joy to others in every situation. Amen.
